Non-compliance with any of these conditions may result in exclusion from future Tours.
What You Can Sell
- The L&A Studio Tour is promoting original artworks such as painting, encaustic, mixed media, collage, fibre arts, quilts, sculpture, wood turning, glass, digital media, drawing, ceramics, mosaic, jewellery, goldsmithing/silversmithing, photography and pottery. We welcome artists at any stage of their creative journey.
- Artists are encouraged to sell their own prints, cards, calendars, notepads, bookmarks and books.
- Note: Unacceptable Studio Tour items: crafts, giftware, t-shirts, or copied works.
Individual Artists With Studio should:
- Be a ratepayer of Lennox & Addington County.
- Display no other Artists’ work (unless Tour Guest Artist) during the Tour.
- Show and sell only your original art—no copies or mass-produced artworks (no giftware). Please feel free to sell your own fine art reproductions (e.g., prints, giclees, calendars, books, and art cards).
- Proofread your portion of marketing materials by the deadline.
- Display permanent Tour signs at your studio/gallery and display temporary Tour signs at your studio/gallery about a week prior to the Tour. Note: Signs remain the property of the L&A Studio Tour and must be returned if you retire from the Tour.
- Have adequate 3rd party liability insurance of not less than $2,000,000. You may be required to provide proof of insurance.
- Sign an Insurance Waiver (required).
- Have your Studio and gallery area open to the public on Tour Weekend.
- Ensure Studio and gallery areas are easily accessible and safe for the public. Ensure there are no tripping hazards, sharp tools, dangerous electrical wires or connections, no small items at child level, no very hot or cold apparatus within reach.
- Unplug all machinery for the Tour weekend unless in a separate area not accessible by the public.
- Ensure flooring is even and stable. Stairs must be safe and include handrails.
- Label and price all artwork.
- Be able to process electronic payments via Square, e-transfer, Apple/Google Pay (In case someone comes up with more electronic payment methods), etc.
Increase your success:
In your Studio:
- Be prepared to demonstrate and discuss your work during the Tour.
- Have at least 15-20 pieces of your own original work available to display and sell on the Tour.
- Organize your art supplies, materials, and tools so that you can talk about your process.
- Have some works in progress on display, as well as some older pieces, and artworks in varying sizes.
- Display/gallery space can be separate from work area (such as on a front porch, in your living room, in a hallway, in a sunroom). Gallery space should be well lit so that visitors have adequate light with which to view your work.
Before the Tour:
- Distribute printed materials.
- Attend AS MANY AS POSSIBLE studio tour meetings.
- Volunteer to help out as needed. This is your studio tour!
- Publish and share information about the L&A Studio Tour on your own website, blog, and social media.
- Link to the L&A Studio Tour website on your website.
Guest Artists should:
- Proofread your portion of marketing materials by the deadline.
- Label and price all artwork.
- Be able to process electronic payments via Square, e-transfer, Apple/Google Pay (In case someone comes up with more electronic payment methods), etc.
- Have 15-20 original pieces available to display and sell. be available to discuss your work during the Tour.
- Have some works in progress on display, as well as some older pieces, and artworks in varying sizes.
- Distribute Studio Tour marketing materials in your area
- Publish and share information about the Tour on your own website, blog, and social media link to the L&A Studio Tour website on your website.
- Have adequate 3rd party liability insurance of not less than $2,000,000. You may be required to provide proof of insurance.
- Sign an Insurance Waiver (required).
